Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm looking for a (chapter) saint book for my 9 yo boy. Saint stories with lots of action keeps his attention. Any suggestions? We are in the Renaissance in history if that helps with suggestions.

A book about Saint Ignatius comes to mind.

We have enjoyed these three... brave men!

Saint Francis of the Seven Seas

St. Isaac and the Indians

Fr. Marquette and the Great River

We've liked those particular three as well. And my 11-year-old son as a general rule does not like saint stories. He likes saints, just not novelized stories about them. He's reading Fr. Marquette right now with nary a complaint, however.

Sally

PS: Is Fr. Marquette actually a saint? I rather think he must be, but officially, is he? Anyway, good book.

The Eva K Betz books are good. Not sure if Father Farmer in Priest On Horseback is officially a saint, but we also liked The Man Who Wrestled With the Devil about St. john Vianney.

Saint Louis and the Last Crusade
King St. Louis IX actually lived in the century prior to the beginning of the Renaissance, but he is a great saint and this is a good book for boys (and girls).

St. Thomas More of London
This is another Vision Book. St. Thomas More lived during the 15th and 16th centuries, during the time of the Renaissance, and is another great saint for boys (and girls).

My children like the Vision Books, and so do my husband and I. Melinda's and Lindsay's recommendations are great too.

Now I really can't decide! I may let ds pick from this list though. Thanks everyone!
