Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Moms,
I decided to do the St. Joseph FHC Catetchism plus Saint stories for my first grader for religion...but I have never used a catechism for a child's religion instruction...

How do you use it? I see the questions and the bolded answers. Do I have the child memorize just the bolded answers? Is that the whole point?

I used it last year for my two oldests' FHC prep. We did one lesson every other week. The first week, we read through the lesson and then spent some time discussing, looking at the pictures, etc. The second week, we worked on memorizing the bolded questions and answers. I read them aloud each day until the children thought they knew them--then they recited them back to me. We practiced the previous lessons' questions and answers throughout the week as well.

Similar to Celeste's plan. We read, discuss, and memorise.

We use ours very similarly:

Day 1: I read aloud questions, child reads aloud bolded answer, I read aloud the part in regular font. We go over questions and additional info at the end and discuss.

Day 2-10: I read aloud questions, child works on answering from memory. We also review a previous chapter. We may or may not do all the questions each day, depending on how many questions there are or how complex the answers are to remember. I also usually schedule an additional reading from a different book on these days.
