Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would like to display a short bible verse each week for dd to use for copywork and perhaps memory work. Does anyone have a resource for a list of verses to use? I've seen protestant resources, but those can be problematic. I don't need an entire curriculum or "system" just a list.
Thanks.

I use the Catholic Verse Finder for my list, Theresa.

I have used this list from Simply Charlotte Mason. While Protestant, it is pretty straightforward. I am just mindful of translation. Since it is categorized, you can easily de-emphasize the "salvation" verses since they isolate the "sola fide" passages to the exclusion of those that support our Catholic doctrines.

I also really like the verse selection from Andrew Campbell's Living Memory book, but of course, you would not purchase that simply for the short section on scripture.

I'm being lazy; my Ignatius Study Bible is upstairs.

There is a section towards the back with verses related to Church teachings. Of course it is just the New Testament right now.

ETA: It is called Index of Doctrines.

I read that Helen- I think it was on the Living the Liturgical Year thread--picked a verse from the readings for the next Sunday to use each week.

I think it was Helen . Anyway- I thought that was an excellent idea.

That approach works quite well. The USCCB posts the Daily readings and it is easy to extract.

I like to have key Scripture quotes that come from our Liturgy and Divine Office. For example, I want my boys to have the familiarity with the rotations of the readings and psalms for Mass and Divine Office for certain feast days. For the feasts of apostles, the Responsorial Psalm is always Psalm 117, and with the verse Mark 16:15, "Go out to all the world and tell the Good News."

I also like to use the approach by Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and create prayer cards of various verses, particularly Psalm verses, because they are prayers. These are kept near the prayer table, and the boys can copy. The familiarity is wonderful.

I put this list together, which I am now using with ds8. We are just going through a verse every week or two. We do it verbally, and only spend 2-3 minutes on it when we begin our day with prayer etc.

That's what we do, too. I choose a verse each week that will be read the following Sunday at mass. I use my Magnificat to look ahead, but the USCCB's web site has the readings in a calendar format, too.

Ohh...sounds intriguing Jenny! Any chance you have sample pages anywhere?
