Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anybody used this program? I wish there were more samples online!

It used to be part of the second grade plans so I bought them for it. It has a lot of out of print stories throughout and some nice simple crafts/activities. My son and I liked it. If you use it, spread it out. We compressed it a bit and didn't get the full effect. I think I'll buy for my 7 year old for the upcoming year. Its consumable so you'll need one for each child, then you can save in their First Communion Notebook if you are making one. That's what we did. I would suggest getting the materials needed ( at the bottom of your link ) - we didn't have Rare Stories or The Faith Explained and I wished we did. But we were also doing formation in a co-op and some other books I had found so it all worked out. But if you buy, I say, have everything you need. HTH!

Ditto to Amanda about when I got it.

My sister ordered it recently and we decided that we weren't sure if it was exactly the same because it wasn't the same page numbers. We decided that we weren't sure if it has all the stories in it anymore or if they were using stories solely from Rare Catholic Stories.

I have used it with every First Communicant. I don't do everything -- and I don't do all the other books (thought I think they would be great; I just don't have them). I use St. Joseph's First Communion catechism.

If you get it, for sure get holy cards and stickers to make your own Mass books, etc.

I have used it with both of mine, actually, it's the only thing I still use from CHC.

This time I didn't do everything, but they cover some things so well I wouldn't want to use anything else. I use it very much like Maryan said she does- not everything, not all the books. Definitely get the holy cards and stickers if you get it.

I use it as a resource along with other books I have chosen. So far it's worked very well.

One more question!!! What did you use along side this resource? I have the First Communion Catechism which I am planning to work on during Tea Time. He will be doing Faith and Life during Faith Formation at church. We will continue to read Neumann Press books during Morning Basket. Is this enough?

The only other "resource" that I like to add is that I love to take my boys to a holy hour or holy half hour either in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament or even reposed. Just my FHC and me. And then we get a treat after. With my past communicant, we took some of his CHC prep work for meditation before his first confession and FHC.

I used quite a few favorite books, just read aloud as special mom/FHC-kid time. For me, this was the bulk of our "program". I filled in with CHC pages that I knew would be helpful/enjoyed, and we built the finished pages into a First Holy Communion Scrapbook.

We did:

The St. Joseph First Communion Catechism

First Confession by Mother Mary Loyola
The King of the Golden City by Mother Mary Loyola
First Communion Days by a Sister of Notre Dame
The Patron Saint of First Communicants by Mary Fabyan Windeatt

For myself, I read The Children's Charter by Mother Mary Loyola.

I also tried to use First Communion by Mother Mary Loyola, but it was written before they lowered the age for FHC from 12 to 7 so it was a bit meaty for my 6/7 year old, so we shelved it. If you really took it in small bites, you could do it. It is AMAZING.
