This morning our local catholic homeschooling group spread the word about a great prayer opportunity from Germany: There is a website that let's you sign up and then they assign you a cardinal you may pray for. The site is in English and German. Check out the English instructions here. Each one in our family signed up for a cardinal. There is a limit to how many cardinals you get with one e-mail address, though. We used two different e-mail addresses for sign up. When you receive your cardinal, you get the name and the picture. I printed out a picture of each (there is a "print" button). Later I received an e-mail with the name of each cardinal as well, but no picture. So if you want a picture, print out the first page you get. I also printed out short biographies of each from here. We will be looking up countries and cities of our cardinals to practice some geography .

Eva, I just did this yesterday with the girls.
One of my daughters adopted a cardinal, who is no longer taking part in the conclave. It was no problem to get a new one.
I think this is a good idea to do with the children, as they then can feel they play a role in this great event. The cardinals become persons to get to know, even if only a very little.
Thanks for mentioning it here.

How did you get a new one? We had the same issue.
Thanks,
Christine

"For those who will exceed the security limit that we set (5 per address), we offer the opportunity, to contact us through our email-address contact@adoptacardinal.org. Of course, we will allow you to do another adoption, but the processing might take a few hours."
The above is from an email I received this morning.
I hope this helps you.

You are welcome! My children love this, especially my youngest (4) keeps reminding everybody to pray for his or her cardinal .

We have our Cardinal up on our fridge. What a (fun) privilege!

We adopted ours. One for everyone - except the youngest - he took all 5 he could get...
We even adopted ones for our older boys who are out of the house - they have no idea and will just get a message in their mailboxes titled "You have adopted a cardinal"

I forwarded this to our pastor, he was also very excited, as were several ladies in our parish's office. Later I got a phone call from one of the ladies, who wanted to let me know that "her" cardinal was the same as the one my youngest daughter had received. She thought that was great.
