Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We currently have an altar set up in our family, room but I often dream of turning our little, infrequently used living room into a small chapel. Has anyone else done this? The furniture that would be in the room regularly would be 2 comfy chairs, a table, a piano, and an altar. Eventually I hope to have kneelers for at least 4 people.

What are the pros and cons of doing this? Would the kids be able to use the room for music practice and music get togethers. We actually sometimes refer to it as our music room. I know at our church, kids have played the piano at other than mass/religious events, so I am thinking it would be okay.

Thoughts???

Thanks!

We have a small "office" type room in the front of our house that we have set up like this. The only difference is that we only have 2 kneelers and a book shelf.

I love it. We don't have many people that come to our home. But, when we have hired people come over I often get a strange look.

I can't say there are any draw backs, if you have the room to spare. For us we needed a place for the kids to practice their piano, so it really is serving double duty.   It is also a set space where the kids go when they need to collect their emotions to treat the family better (i.e. time outs!). I also like that I can keep a good chunk of my religious books/rosaries/chaplets organize and in the area that we need them.

Let me know if you have any more questions....
