Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My sixth grader (next year) is a good reader and I'm looking at providing him with a Bible History text to study or just to read. I am looking at Bible History by Fr. Ignatius Schuster, or Bible History by Dominica, Hannon and Johnson. Does anyone have any recommendations on either of these?

Thanks,
Lisa

I like both, but I've not yet used them older children, so I have no insight. I'll be interested in what others think :)

I like them both. My impression is that Shuster's language is a bit more difficult and condensed than Dominica, Hannon and Johnson's.

But the Dominica one may cover more -- it's certainly a bigger book. I believe Kolbe has Shuster assigned for later elementary (4th to 6th )and Dominica for middle school (7th and 8th).

Thanks for the responses. I was also able to get a look at the Schuster version a friend had. I think I'll go with that one, especially since Sacred Heart Books and Gifts is having free shipping that ends today! (Discount code JMJ50)
