Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I picked up a copy of Give Us This Day Magazine to work through during Lent. I've never used it before. After some of the prayers there is a red symbol which looks like R7 - please forgive the silly question! I'm not Catholic. Can anyone tell me what the symbol means? Thank you in advance.

I wondering if this means "repeat response"? Is there an italicized portion after the first prayer in the series or near the beginning of the prayer section, something like Lord, hear our prayer. Or it could be even longer, along the lines of today's response in Morning Prayer: Instruct us, Lord, in the ways of your kingdom. In the daily prayers of the Church and in the prayers during Mass, there is a portion which is repeated after each stanza (as it were) of prayer. The "stanzas" are called "strophes". Usually, in a group, the leader will pray the strophe and the congregation will respond with a repeating reply.
HTH!

Yeah, picture helped! The symbol definitely means to repeat the response. It looks as if they have the response in bold-faced type. In the sample magazine, the response is "Blessed are you, Lord." So, at each red "R" symbol, you repeat, "Blessed are you, Lord." Then go on to the next strophe, or section.
