Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My ds in 5th does really well when narrating from stories of the saints or Bible history stories but struggles mightily with narrating from Faith and LIfe. I love the F&L series, so this is not a complaint, I am just wondering if there is a way to make this easier. Any suggestions? Does anyone else have a child that struggles with this?

F&L is not a living book so it is not going to lend itself to narrations. It is a good religion series, but when we've used it in the past I have not asked for narrations from it.

Thanks Jen. I really just gave up on having him do narrations from F&L but I've had this little voice telling me I should be having him narrate them. (Don't ask me where the voice came from! ) F&L works fine for discussion, so we'll just keep on in that manner.

Becky, I tried that last year with Faith and LIfe 1. I believe it is recommended in Mater Amabilis, but that is just a suggestion. I actually had bought the Teacher Manual, but set it aside early in the year. But my son would always say , " I know all this" when we read it and I asked him to narrate. Late in the year I pulled out the TM and realized there is really a lot more to it. Read the pertinent passages/stories, discussions, suggested crafts, etc. The reading of the chapter is only one day, I think. Anyway, maybe those things are obvious, but to me they really helped flesh out the text. I have the CHC plans but wasn't really referring to those either, so they may have more suggestions for use of Faith and life. Of course we were reading saint stories and Bible stories and FIrst Communion Catechism too, so I guess we were already fleshing it out :) Hope that helps! Of course the TMs are over $30 full price...

I don't have my kids narrate catechism either. I do ask them questions about it but it's more a fill in the blank type of question than a narration question at the ages I have! We do narrate saints and Bible readings.
