Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We try very hard as a family to make it to First Friday and First Saturday devotional masses. We had a good year+ a while back where we were able to make daily mass consistently. We've clung mightily, though, to First Friday and Saturday to help us get to some extra non-Sunday masses each month.

I feel very silly, but it tickles me to death when, like this month, First Saturday is the first day of the month so that they fall on different weekends. It is hard going to First Friday in the evening, going home for bed, getting up and going to First Saturday the next morning, and then, of course, Sunday the next day.

I love having it spread to two weekends, and I've long wished that God would have planned things a little "better" and made devotions to Mary on the "Second Saturday" or something a little more alliterative and convenient for ME.

After YEARS of these devotions, though, I've STILL never made 9 First Fridays!! It is HARD.

I'm curious, has anyone ever made it through? Of course, I never had such devotions until I had kids, so, it might have been easier if I'd tried to do it when young and single. But still, I keep doing crazy things like getting pregnant and having babies the first week of the month, etc...

I'm pretty sure that I've made 5 First Saturdays in a row, but I'm beginning to think that the ploy of the 9 First Fridays is that you never actually make it so you keep having to start over again and it keeps you going

Yes, I've thought that too.
I think I have done First Friday 2x, but I think the main reason for that is because I'm the coordinator/point person for our small First Friday gathering.    I'm the only parishioner, so I really feel I need to be there.

I'm fairly sure that I've done 9 first Fridays when going to school.
My elementary school's playground doubled as the church parking lot on weekends making a monthly school Mass (which happened to be held on first Fridays ) very simple to organize - no traveling involved.
