Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ds12 has chosen St Bernadine of Siena for his Confirmation saint. Read his story in the 54 Saints book that I'm sure many will have. Anyhow just wondering about the pronunciation as I've only heard Bernadine for a female name. Although it is spelt Bernadine in the book, would you pronounce it as Bernard or Bernad?

Well no answers

I did some googling and came up on a pronunciation site with: Bern-uh-din for a boy and Bern -ar-dean for a girl.

And a kind reader wrote to me to say the book is missing the second r. it is indeed spelt Bernardine.
