Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I want to buy Bible in Felt from feltsource.com or net but it is $150!!! and I would have to cut out over 600 figures out of felt! yikes so guess what I'm not going to buy it!

But I did find this: Let the Children Come to Me - Interactive Poster Set which is new testament only and catholic and all the figures pop out - perferated paper. I am happy with it, its like $25.00 and it should help my son with the religion section of MODG K and 1 and 2 etc.

So why am I writing this do you ask? Well I need something for the old testament at all. Even the feltsource doesn't just do the old testament and if I were to custom order it it would be more expensive than if I ordered the whole thing for $150.00 and I would have to cut it all out.

I did call the catholic co. but they don't have anything. They do have a booklet on how to put on old testament skits but they do not provide props - I do that already in my home. I was hoping for little hand held figures. Any ideas? Thanks!

Don't know if it's a help, dolorsofmary, but when we were studying Old Testament history, we made our own Old Testament figures using felt and clothespin doll figures. Half the fun was making them. I purchased almost everything from Michael's with 40% off coupons, and a few online sources.

Covenant Theology for Kids series of posts
This post gives more detailed instructions on making the clothespin figure.

Just thought I'd link it in case it might give you some ideas for how to do this yourself - making these Old Testament figures is completely doable, and could be really fun!

I like Jen's ideas. I was going to add a few other ones, but hers is tried and true.

I have two books by Margaret Hutchings Making Old Testament Toys and Making New Testament Toys. The author is from the UK adn the books were written in the 70s, so some of the supplies might be hard to find. One examples is the apostles in the NT book, made from Smarties tubes. Smarties are a type of M&M candy in the UK, but even those tubes have changed so they aren't round anymore.

But, the OT book has lots of ideas with felts and other figures of key stories from the OT.

The other idea is to paint the "little wooden dolls" or painted saints.

I am a big fan of Shrinky Dinks for this type of thing. They even sell small stands so the figures stand up. They last a long time, the kids enjoy them, and if you want they sell sheets that run through an inkjet printer.
