Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Good morning ladies. I'm not sure if this thread should be in this forum or in Mothering and Family Life.

My son has a very special day coming up soon. On May 1st he will receive his First Holy Communion. He also turns eight on this day.

Where are the best stores to purchase First Communion suits from? Online store suggestions are welcome as well.

He is attending a retreat at church this morning to prepare for this sacrament and I plan to ask about this there, too. Our closest Catholic store seems to carry everything but clothing for Baptisms and First Communions.

Also, my son is named Brendan and I would love to give him a rosary with St. Brendan on it for his special day, but have yet to find one. If anyone spots one please let me know. : )

Trinity,
I make rosaries and I am not aware of any specific St. Brendan "parts" at the moment. If you would like a hand made rosary I would recommend making a first communion rosary or one like this and then adding a medal of St. Brendan to it.

If you are interested in my work you can check me out at Immaculata Designs or there are other lovely rosary makers here at 4Real.

I will be adding FHC rosaries in Brass, Bronze and Sterling Silver in the new few weeks to my site.

I hope that helps and you find what you are looking for!

Hi Betsy, that is what I was thinking of, a rosary that has a medal with St. Brendan on it. : )

Your rosaries are very beautiful! I am hoping to find something at a lower price, only because my son is young enough that he still leaves things everywhere. I am adding your store to my favorites list. I may be purchasing a rosary for my mother for her birthday and will keep you in mind.

I am still searching for a Communion suit, too. JC Penny carries them online, but they are out of stock of the size we need. There were none in stock at our local store either.

no one here uses the full white suit. My boys come closest with a white dinner jacket over black pants. some other boys wear a regular dark colored suit, but most just wear dark pants with a dress shirt. And I bought the dinner jacket on ebay.

You might also try kohl's, DapperLads. ebay, Target. Macy's

Here we usually have a navy blazer over khaki pants or navy pants. A full suit is usually harder to find and a little impractical. Even growing up down South I never saw the white suits or jackets for the boys.

I ordered my sons suit from Catholic supply. They have 5 piece suites in several colors for only $49.95.

Thank you ladies. : )

The boys are required to wear a white tie, the color of the suits is optional. Originally we thought we would use a white suit, but now I'm thinking we may not. I am considering a darker suit as he already has dress shoes to match.

I forgot to check Catholic Supply. They are a wonderful company. : )
