Wonderful news!
The Diocese of Green Bay, under the leadership of Bishop Ricken, has declared "with moral certainty" an apparition of the Blessed Mother to a young Belgian woman in 1859 to be worthy of belief.
The announcement was made yesterday, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Below are some cut and paste links, since I still haven't learned how to make them active!
We will be travelling to Wisconsin for Christmas and will be taking our family to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help to make a pilgrimage. If anyone would like me to be the bearer of any particular prayer requests, please send me a personal message.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
Wishing you all a blessed and peace-filled Advent.

I grew up about 60 minutes from the Shrine, and had no idea either.
I am sure that most of the Catholics in WI even TODAY still have no idea!
Spread the news far and wide! It is too wonderful not to share!
Peace to your day!

This is wonderful. Interestingly it made the news here in the west, too - just saw it in our weekly diocese e-newsletter.

Our priest here in Wisconsin spoke about it from the pulpit yesterday. So exciting!

That's great, Elizabeth!
I am so looking forward to going to the shrine when I am back in WI. I looked it up on google maps, and it is truly in the middle of nowhere!
My cousin had this to say about what his priest said in regards to the apparition:
What a grace for all the church and this diocese. During the coverage yesterday on Relevant radio, they were talking about how the message was one of evangelization and catechesis. It was also interesting how several priests and the bishop himself stated how poorly people have been catechized in the past 40 years and how they've strayed from the basics. They then said how Fr. Marquette, Allouez and co. brought the faith to the whole midwest region through Green Bay. They were drawing comparisons with the call to the new evangelization and why perhaps now this is the moment for all this to take place.

I thought the same thing when I looked at the map.
What an interesting thought about the Fr. Marquette et. al. connection and geography!

Another great reason to visit our great state of Wisconsin everyone. A pilgrimage to the Shrine , a trip to Lambeau Field (a must even for you non-sports fanatics), and a trip to one of the Great Lakes--hey I sound like a tour guide.

Perhaps you two lovely ladies and your families would like to join us when we go there on a pilgrimage while we are back in WI for Christmas. We will be going between Christmas and New Year's.
Any other takers?
Peace!
