Yesterday, I received my new Ignatius Press Spring catalog and see on p.6 the new Ignatius Bible RSV-2nd edition. I was so, so hoping that it was printed in a larger font for these aging eyes!! Instead it boasts "a revision of the archaic language used in the first edition. This revised, contemporary English translation avoids dumbing-down the text, and doesn't filter the language to make it acceptable to current tastes and prejudices." So what does that mean? Has anyone seen this? There is no Catholic bookstore near us, and I can't see it for myself. Frankly, I LOVE the first edition except for the font size, and we use it for copywork and memorization. I'd love to know what is different and wish they had used specific verses as examples. If anyone can see a copy, would you post your impressions? I'm wondering why they changed a good thing.

I got my catalog, too, and wondered the same thing. I don't think 1st edition was that archaic, I just would have liked to see larger margins and a little bigger text.

I know Scott Hahn and the Navarre Bible is based on the RSV-CE 1st edition. Is this 2nd one acceptable?
