I was just informed that our parish is having a planning meeting in three hours.
The meeting, however, is taking place at the same time I pick up my boys from Robotics class. I won't make the meeting.
Last year, children cut out colored Jesse Tree ornaments and a paper Nativity. That's it. We didn't even have Advent wreaths as we had in years past.
I'd like to suggest a few ideas.
Here are my thoughts off the top of my head not knowing guidelines or budget or anything....obviously an Advent wreath....also
*****Crafts*****
Make ornaments pictured here that Jenn made.
Supply various Holy cards of Christ Child, Nativity scene, Holy Family, Advent Saints
We made those as a family one year without baking. Worked fine.
need more craft ideas
*****GAMES*****
Charlotte's newest idea St. Nicholas' Coin Toss
Tossing Roses into St Diego's tilma
*****EXTRA*****
Table to decorate angel star shaped sugar cookies
Would you please share how your parish celebrates Advent? Specifically, I hope to get a look at the craft/activities that take place for the children.
Help please! If I had more time, I could continue to search the archives for more ideas. I just hope to have friends here share their favorite games, activity, or craft....even one...please.

I'm not good at giving examples, Michaela. Our parish doesn't generally have an Advent party. This year there is something new where there is an Advent Wreath making workshop. You have to sign up in advance, and I think the materials are around $8. There is a choice of live or artificial. One of the priests will come and explain the signficance of the wreath.
Otherwise, I'm working on planning our homeschool retreat, which is just a 2 hour session. I do the K-2 (next year I guess I'll be doing the older group since my son will be in that group). I try to crafts and such for the youngers.
I made a variation of Alice's Take Along Mangers and Mangers in Miniature. My purpose was to have each child have a little manger to fill with straw with all the prayers and good deeds during Advent and then place their Baby Jesus in it.
I do try to bring out the Advent theme, usually the wreath, and highlight Mary through OLG and Immaculate Conception, and St. Nicholas, sometimes St. Lucy.
The nearby Seton school which is both a junior and high school always puts on a St. Nicholas Festival, which has little carnival games, different crafts, some raffles, food, and pictures with St. Nicholas. It's not too complicated and lots of fun for the littles. Many of the ideas are from the St. Nicholas Center site.
The St. Nicholas Center, O Night Divine, and Catholic Mom have loads of ideas.

Here are free printable mangers with the Divine Infant to download and print which would be perfect for an Advent craft. It wouldn't even have to be completed at the party. You can print them and place the pieces in a small paper bag and hand them out to families to take home and make.

Thank you sooooo much!!
Jenn, I looked forever for the Take along Manger post you linked, but...I just couldn't remember what it was called or whose blog it was on. THANK YOU!!
I hoped to have tables focus on the Advent Saints, but it's such short notice that I won't be able to express my thoughts to the committee (keeping anything Santa out and focus on ADVENT).
Jen, I will include the paper mangers in case the wooden mangers are cost prohibitive for such a large group. They are absolutely darling. Thank you!!
