Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know of a poster set, similar to this one for the mysteries of the rosary, for images of Christ? I have a set for the stations of the cross, too.

I want now is a set that includes classic Catholic images as well as images from fine art. If a set isn't available, how would you approach gathering a collection? Thanks!

Love,

OK, seems like a set doesn't already exist, so how would you go about collecting one? Any supplier suggestions? Thanks!

Love,

Have you checked out CHC? They have some image sets that might fit:

The Life of Christ postcards

Learning to Appreciate Art

Art Masterpieces: A Liturgical Collection

That Resource Site has a Printable Timeline of Christ that looks really cool! It's got a lot of neat images, but I don't think they'll get big enough to print posters. Maybe you could get some ideas there.

Thank you, all! I will check out all of these options.

Another option I'm considering, is to shrink my size requirement (and costs) to a collection of prayer cards...

Love,

Angie, I got lots of ideas on how to do it yourself if you have a good color printer. I've done some similar poster sizes for Lent and Easter. I like to use flip or chart easels in the 8 1/2 x 11 size. My mom used those for the Stations and the Rosary pictures, and I went from there to get prints for other themes. This protects the pictures, but I don't have to laminate them.

Web Gallery of Art is one of my favorite places to get the best works of art, but here are a few other ideas to fill in the "Life of Christ".

Biblical Art on the Web is a great reference tool by certain scriptural references of what is available online. It's not complete, nor do all the links work, but I found extremely helpful.

Art and Images related to John's Gospel

And I found this old book online, which is black and white, but a great resource! The Great Painters' Gospel. I figured to use this as a reference to find great works of art depicting Christ's life, and go from there.

A bit different approach is to use books like Saints: A Year in Faith and Art by Rosa Giorgi. These are small hardback books with wonderful works of art.

Costco was carrying 3 more books of a similar genre. I first bought Bible Stories by Martina Degl'Innocenti and Stella Marinone and then went back and bought the rest:

Mary by Martina Degl'Innocenti and Stella Marinone

Angels by Marco Bussagli

These are wonderful collections. Bible Stories covers Old Testament and New Testament stories with a work of art for each.

I don't have my copy here, but Mary, if I remember, covers prefigures in OT, her life, titles, apparitions, etc.

Angels covers different biblical stories of angels. What is unique about this book compared to the others is that it has multiple paintings for one biblical passage. I'd love to see that in the Bible Stories or Life of Christ, seeing all the different options.

Now, a parental warning. There are many works of art that show more body parts than you normally see. I personally cover some female parts since I have boys. "Angels" has several depictions of the Expulsion from Eden that have Eve rather uncovered, then a few depictions in the OT section in "Mary". I don't think there were any in the "Bible Stories". There were very few, but I'm more comfortable using my permanent marker if my boys will be gazing a long time.

I used the books already during the rosary, and they were wonderful meditation material for both me and my son.
