Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

You might try your local Goodwill. I'm not kidding. They usually have a lot of Bibles for sale, although most aren't Catholic Bibles. You'll have to look carefully before you buy. (The price is right, though - about $1.50!)

I have found bibles from thrift stores for around $1.00....like Nancy said. But, they aren't Catholic. But, very nice hardcover ones. And, there are SO MANY!

I know you said "inexpensive"....but thought I would mention this, in case you wanted to hold out and save or maybe wait for gift-times....but Steve Wood always talks about this Perfect Size Catholic Bible. Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSVCE).

A couple years ago, he had an offer of some sort and I got it for $10 (it's $25-30 regular price), and so have it, waiting for my oldest to get a bit older to give it to her. It REALLY is gorgeous, very user-friendly and a perfect bible for lots of USE!   It's small, so I can't picture my husband using it...or anyone over the age of 40
