We have used F&L and last year I tried one Seton Religion book with my eldest, but I do not like the feel of us all learning the faith separately. I feel like it is too easy to slip into "complete the workbook page" mode and not have that connectedness and understanding like we do with other subjects that we do as a group (science, history, art, etc.).
That being said, I know for sure I want to teach to them all, but how? I have the Baltimore Cs and envision us cuddled up on the couch reading a section and discussing together, adding copywork/memorization for the olders, and fleshing everything out with liturgical based projects. But that seems like not enough? Is there a framework or plan for HSers teaching this way? I don't want to miss the basics, and quite frankly, growing up with no faith, I am learning alongside of them, so I am wanting to make sure I cover the most I can.
Also, for those of you who teach your children as a group, what does that look like? What books and resources do you use?
Oh, and by the way, I would be teaching to 3rd, 2nd, and K, if that helps.

This sounds wonderful to me. As your children grow you can add more traditional book work if you like but for now...add some beautiful living books to your cuddle time and enjoy, enjoy.
What are your family's current areas of interest in the faith? what would you all like to learn more about?

I think that sounds like a good plan. I thought there was an online company writing lessons plans for Baltimore Catechism. I don't remember their name. I'll have to think about it.

Me too!  In fact, this is really what we did for several years and it was time treasured!
Teaching the lesson
We all sit down together and I read through a lesson. Then, I would read a story from the Angel Food for Boys and Girls by Father Gerald Brennan that coordinated with the Baltimore Catechism lesson we just read about. (Sometimes, there are a few stories that support one lesson, so we just read a different one each day, discussing the lesson.)

You can read about them more in this thread. **NOTE** I hope I'm not implying that the Angel Food books are necessary in studying the Baltimore Catechism; they certainly are not! But, they've enriched our studies, so I thought I'd share.
Learning the Catechism
Subsequent days, we'd play quiz games with the Baltimore Catechism questions - sometimes we'd sit on the couch and quiz...sometimes the kids would stand at the end of the hallway or the top of the stairs. I'd sit at the other end asking one question at a time. Each question answered correctly resulted in a step forward - the first one to get to me was the winner! Definitely works with children who have natural competive tendencies!
Reading with the liturgical year
In addition we'd read picture books and chapter books that coordinated with the liturgical year. Catholic Mosaic has been so helpful to me in providing a starting point for reading picture books with the liturgical year (you can download the booklist for free from Hillside's site). Also, there are numerous wonderful suggestions here at 4Real.
Crafting and cooking with the liturgical year
If time allowed, we'd craft something together. Here's what we did last year for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart. I don't craft for every Feast!! We craft when time and resources are available. And, for some Feasts, we enjoy cooking with the liturgical year. Catholic Cuisine is a great resource there!
If I could make a suggestion, since you have a 2nd grader next year, I'm going to guess you're preparing for FHC - I'd use the St. Joseph's First Communion Catechism for everyone and work from there! If you're reading aloud a book like The King of the Golden City to your 2nd grader - read it aloud to everyone! It'll be a great story to your K'er (who won't get any of the allegory, but that's ok!) and a great review for your 3rd grader!! We ALWAYS re-read that great book around 4th grade and sometimes again later because there's so much the kids pick up at each new read!

I ordered them years ago but they weren't in print, they were always "coming soon." So I canceled my order after not receiving anything for 6-9 months. I just tried today to contact the company to see if any of the volumes are available yet. I'll keep you all posted

Angie, I feel like we need to get more familiar with the Mass. The littles are fairly attentive, but I want them to have a deeper connection. I know they are still little, but I am thinking about maybe using "A Walk Through Our Church" as a springboard. Any tips appreciated!
Jen, THANK YOU! I have one of the Angel Food books, and we LOVE them!! They ask for me to read it to them after lunch.  I would love to invest in the rest of the set. They are so sweet. Thanks for the great resource! Has anyone seen one of those for the Treasure Box books? I seem to have a vague recollection....maybe it was a dream...
We did the CHC FHC supplement this past year for my eldest. I may do that again for my son this year. Not sure...
We do the readings every morning together - sing a hymn, 2 eldest read one of the readings, 4 year old leads the alleluia and picks a closing prayer (kind of our own mini-Mass at home ) and we like to watch the reflections on the USCCB website afterwards. That has been a serious mainstay for our family. I feel like that is a big chunk of our formation.
I am interested in hearing about the BC lesson plans.... And I will check out the Catholic Mosaic booklist! Sounds delicious!! Peace!

You will love Catholic Mosaic. My kids are quite grown up (dd is going into 8th grade this fall) and both of them still love these wonderful books. We pull out the Christmas storybooks every year, too. Think of it as establishing family traditions...some day you'll be reading all of these beautiful stories to grandchildren (Angel Food, Catholic Mosaic and more).
It is okay (and more than okay) to reread treasured titles each year. In fact, I encourage you to do so. In my beloved Betsy-Tacy books, I love the Christmas traditions at Betsy's house, where each family member reads a specific thing (Nativity reading, poem, etc.) every Christmas Eve to begin their family celebration. This is what I've tried to do during Advent each year...and we just love paging slowly through the Tomie dePaola books...do give it a try.
