My oldest daughter will be making her FHE in June.
We've picked out a dress for $50 at target.com that I plan to order next week, but we're trying to figure out about a veil or hair piece.
Does anyone have any tips of where to get something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (I'm thinking $25 or less)? I think my daughter is wanting something a little less poofy than most that we see. I need something that doesn't involve a complicated hairstyle because (a) I'm not great with hair and (b) I'm hoping I can schedule her FHE within a week of giving birth so my parents can be there.

I made the one for my daughters.. a simple ring with artificial flower (tiny ones) wrapped with ribbon (use hot glue to hold it all together).. the veil was off the back of the ring.. I actually had some of the veil fabric that wasn't used in my wedding veil and used that.. folded it over the ring and hand stitched it.. and added some matching ribbon from the dress. let me look for a picture.

I'm generally not a mantilla person, but I do think that the white ones are so simple and lovely compared to the poofier veils. Some of them are less lacey and more "veilish", but I like how they frame face and cover the head rather than the ones that are more gathered. It makes me think of a Madonna in white.
I just did a quick google search and found this site where there seem to be a few in your price range.

The easiest thing I would suggest is cutting a triangle (could have rounded corners) of white lace or tulle. Get one of those headbands that look like horse-shoes - if it's cloth, you can stitch the lace to it; if it's plastic or something else you can hotglue the lace to it. Either way, put the band on your daughter's head, lay the lace where it looks the nicest and glue or stitch on.
This is great - especially for those girls not used to having a headcovering. It stays on SO well, without clips, or sliding off, etc.
(a cloth headband might work too - but would be trickier putting on)

Ebay seems to have a lot of veils right now and they are very reasonably priced!
