Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My mom is going to be showing the CCC St Patrick video in her CCD class and would like a craft to go along with it. I suggested cutting out three green hearts and writing Father, Son, and Holy Spirit on them and making a shamrock. This ties in nicely since they just finished the Trinity a couple of weeks ago. Any other suggestions that would tie in nicely with the movie? These are 1st graders and they would have probably 15-20 min to do the craft and my mom isn't the craftiest person around. Thanks!

Beth

That is basically what I do with my first grade class, but we put an eye (father), cross (son), and dove (HS). We glue these on the hearts.

Sounds like a plan. If you want something super simple, I've a printable St. Patrick paper doll. My older kids will use him for a report (and to play), but he's easy enough to draw that my four-year-old likes him, too ...

I rounded up some cute St. Patrick crafts and put them here. We're planning on doing a "trinity shamrock" project ourselves, and I just love the dolls Vee makes!

Love the idea of having the kids make the shamrocks out of hearts. I love the ones with symbols, too. I've seen a bible, a heart, and a church stand for the "Father", but never an eye. Can someone tell me why? I'm curious.

From catholic-saints.info:
The Eye Christian Symbol represents the "all-seeing eye" representing the eye of God the Father, the all-knowing and ever-present God. The all seeing eye is based on the following passage in Psalm 33:18:

But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.

Yesterday I posted about Trinity Shamrock Crafts. I think these are excellent Catholic St. Patrick's Day crafts!
