Hi Ladies, here again and asking for ideas on Liturgical living, and dining.
I'm catering for a social gathering on Palm Sunday for maybe a lot of people, has anyone got any great platter serving liturgical foods ideas.
I was thinking of Fig and Banana muffins/cake, flat bread with herbs, Palm printed biscuits; some kind of olive dish, looking at possibly a Middle Eastern theme but simple. A lot of people, easy clean up, and food that is able to be served on a platter.
Your ideas would be greatly appreciated.
God bless you all, I hope your Lent has been a fruitful one so far.

I love your ideas! This is a great theme. I'll see if I can think of anything else to add.

Found this Hearts of Palm dip - looks a lot like the artichoke dip we make.

To follow the bean/carling theme with finger foods, what about Texas Caviar dip or 7 layer dip?
Something with refried beans? I keep thinking Tex-Mex style, but it's not exactly Mediterranean.

Had another idea. This would be playing along the word "Palm" taking it to the Hand, our palms, like Hand-print cookies?

Thank you ladies for your great ideas. Could someone explain what "Heart of Palms" are - are they like artichokes??
I was also thinking of gathering (I don't know where from yet) quite a few large palms fronds to decorate the area that this event will be taking place at just to extend the theme. I was hoping my local plant nursery would sell me some otherwise I wouldn't know where to get any from.
Also I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how I could make a palm imprint onto cookies without having a cookie cutter; or where I could get a palm biscuit mould. I have a lovely Paschal Lamb biscuit mould that I use for Easter which the print of the Paschal lamb comes out beautifully but haven't got anything to use to make a print of a palm. Any suggestions?
Thank you, God Bless

They are the inner core of a palm bud - a little like artichokes consistency-wise and taste-wise. Here's a picture.

I've never heard of them before, I'm not sure I could get them over here in Australia.
I might try an Indian shop or Asian Green grocer shop. I like the idea of doing something with this product, it would tie in nicely with the theme. Thanks Mary..
