We have been using Faith and Life for elementary grades but my son who will be in middle school next year wants something more. We have used the Didache Series in high school with great results. Can anyone offer some suggestions for middle school that might fit better? He was in fourth grade this year and used the sixth grade book. We would like to try something other than bumping up the grade.

I don't know if you want a text book, but we used Seton's Confirmation Preparation book and then had our 6th-7th graders read a chapter a week in the Gospel of Luke and write a summary, followed the second year by reading a chapter a week in Acts and writing a summary. You could supplement this with living books on the lives of the saints; this is a great age for them to really begin to identify with these holy heroes! Maybe also he could do some reading in the CCC on the topic of the Church. If he has trouble with the writing, he could just read the material and discuss it with you.
