Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Next week I'm going to be giving the presentation on the Nativity to the kids in our level 1 atrium, and I've got butterflies! It will be the most complex one I've done to date (so many figures and movements), and as I'm reviewing my album page I'm feeling a little panicky. I have Moira's albums to refer to as well, but I wonder if anyone would be willing to share their album page so I can be sure I don't have any gaps? Thanks so much!

I am sure you will do FINE!

As I remind myself (and my catechists) - just do motions and words separate - and pauses to catch your breath are OKAY! Pauses just allow the children to really think about what you've just said anyway (while your brain is fiercely racing to remember what you're supposed to say next!).

Also, I've found that it is sometimes better to split up the Nativity and the Adoration of the Shepherds - the children might be getting it, but the catechist is just too nervous. So pause, discuss/reflect, and then come back to it then or even another day. It really IS a long presentation!

(I have not seen Moira's album - I am presuming she combines the Nativity and the Shepherds.... Ignore my comment otherwise!)

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm planning on giving the presentation twice, and I'll use the shorter version with the younger group. Even though I've studied and practiced, I'm insecure about leaving something out and "ruining" it for the children. Honestly, I don't know why it's bothering me--it's out of character for me to worry about things like that.

I presented today to a kindergarten-only group we have. Some of the children just COULD not sit through the Adoration of the Shepherds - but those individuals came back later and asked for the rest of it... Just different needs, I guess!

The nice thing about leaving things out is that you can go back and add in. MY personal issue that I had to contend with was saying TOO MUCH - you can't take back what's already said (as I should know from other areas of life!!!!), but you can always go back and add to presentations (the children will just think it's another presentation or extended work - or something just for older kids or anything along those lines).
