Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know thisBible ?

I am looking for a Bible for my 7 yr old. Not to read alone necessarily. That will come. We have one English children's Bible, but the language is very difficult.

Thanks

Stephanie,

Yes, I love this Bible. I had this one as a child, and we use this Bible all the time in our family. I confess right now it's mostly for the pictures. It's our Church book. I think the text is lovely, but not overly easy to read.

Here's a sample for you to evaluate:

Quote:
Crossing the Red Sea:
Exodus 14-15

Before the last, the tenth plague, Moses called the leaders of the tribes together and told them how to prepare for the Passover.

On the tenth day of the month each family was to select a lamb and keep it until the fourteenth day. In the evening there were to offer it in sacrifice, sprinkling the doorposts with its blood. They were to roast the lamb and serve it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. The meal was to be taken in haste, standing at the table, as they had to be ready to leave.

At midnight God passed over Egypt. His punishment entered every door not sprinkled with blood. The eldest child in every Egyptian home, from the king down, lay dead, so also the first-born of every animal. There was loud screaming and lamentation in all the land. Pharaoh sent in hast for Moses and Aaron and told them to leave at once and all Israel with them.

There was great tumult! The Israelites were packing and marching off! The Egyptians in fear even helped them to get away. They gave them gold, silver, clothing and other valuables, trying to make up now for all the misery they had heaped upon them....
