Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Could anyone please recommend their favorite or the best resource(s) they know of on Catholic marriage, or more specifically a Catholic marriage that is failing. I know of Retrouville and I actually have Christopher West's Theology of the Body CDs. I have other books, but the problem is that this couple is not very open to Catholic or Christian things even though they go to Mass each week and profess to be Catholic. They are instead relying on secular counseling and new agey books, and are seriously considering a separation for 'some space' to work this out. I would feel better about the separation if they had tried all these great Catholic things and it was recommended by a priest. I am in more than a little turmoil about this as this couple is very close to us...and very frustrated at their almost refusal to do anything Catholic. It might be out of line for me to present them with a boxful of solid Catholic resources on marriage, but besides praying, it seems like I should do something! HELP!

Gregory Popcak wrote the Exeptional Seven Percent. He's Catholic. He also wrote a book published by Our Sunday Visitor, called For Better, Forever. I just typed his name in Amazon and both titles came up. If they have an avertion to Catholicism, the first book might be better because he doesn't focus on that directly, but its there.

My husband and I really like Steve Wood. His web site is www.dads.org. It's really geared for dads, but he has some really good resources for marriage on his site as well.
