Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today (in Aus)12th is the feast of Our Lady of the Pilar, this is a very, very special feast of Our Lady. This is when she bilocated from Jerusalem to Spain when St James was about to return, after losing hope in converting Spain. She gave St James a wooden, carved statue of herself and the Child Jesus upon a pillar (made of jasper I think...)

I am going to blog about it later today but I wanted to let ladies know that I have a fabulous 6 page article, with colour pictures of one of the Church's most incredible miracles that took place at this shrine.
The young man involved had used the holy oil from the shrine..

Please pm with your email address if you would like me to email this to you...you will really enjoy it.

I really never knew much about this feast until a few years ago when a friend of mine named her daughter Pilar. It is a wonderful devotion.

I did blog about the feast day and I loaded the 8 pages on the post, when you click on the images, it opens up to fill the screen and can easily be read online or printed.

Happy feast day to you all!

Oh, Anne- I have long lamented that there is not some special feast day on my birthday ( the church calendars we get are always blank on that day)- and now this! I was just thinking yesterday that I missed the Feast of the Divine Maternity by one day...

I feel like Mary has given me a present and is smiling.

Thank you!

Melinda, that is a blessed day to be born on! Our Lady of the Pillar is a very special feast, I am so pleased that this is a beautiful revelation for you!   I am in October too and it is a beautiful day...St Gerard's feast day (for mothers), St Margaret Mary (Sacred Heart) and it is St Maria Goretti's birthday as well, but a couple of years ago I found out there is a lesser known Marian feast day as well...Our Lady of Purity, and it made me very happy. Padre Pio had an image of Our Lady of Purity by his bedside. It is lovely to share something special with your heavenly mother...

Thank you; it was a good day. And I found it interesting to read this week that Christopher Columbus was particularly devoted to Our Lady and was a third order Franciscan. And throughout his long sea trip across the Atlantic, he refused to doubt that God would bring them safely to land.
And what day did they finally make land? October 12!

Happy Birthday to you also!
