To celebrate the feast of St. Monica tomorrow and her son, St. Augustine the day after, I made these coloring pages and plan on serving a variation of this Algerian dish.
I would love to hear what others do to celebrate either of these saints so near to so many people's hearts.

We are having Beef in Red Wine - simply because I've read that, as well as praying for her dh and her son, St Monica also used the power of prayer to overcoime an issue with alcohol. An example of her perseverance in prayer... So, the red wine in the dish is our (albeit weird) way of remembering this...But I might make that couscous, sans chicken, as a side dish. Thanks!

We will be going to the Cathedral Basilica in St. Augustine on Thursday for mass and vespers. We may also stop by the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche. For tomorrow, I want to try to go to Adoration or mass in the morning. I haven't really planned much for home though. We will see..maybe the Divine Office?

Charlotte,
Thank you, dear lady.
This has become an unexpected blessing in our morning routine. My two girls love having their "saint of the day" picture to color while I read a short bio and we discuss the saint.
It's not always easy finding a saint to color for every day of the month. The girls are very disappointed on the days I simply can't find a coloring sheet...most recently St. Piux X.
Your pictures have been a gift to me and a treasure to my girls.
Thank you again!

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I seem to recall a picture of Pius X in one of the Father Francis Coloring books, Saints of the Eucharist (or More Saints). This site has almost all of the coloring books.

Thanks, Jenn.
I ended up finding a pale black and white photo of him and giving the girls their new markers to use.
Charlotte, I tried replying to you but your PM box is full.
I wanted you to know that when people ask my girls what they're doing for school they are quick to tell them about our St. of the Day as though that's all we do . It's so heartwarming.
Please don't feel any pressure though. We are so grateful for the sheets you do offer and understand the time commitment involved.
You are in our morning prayers.

Charlotte~
We did the coloring page this morning; it was great! Thank you so much!
And, also just read the story "Monica and Augustine" from the Children's Book of Home and Family this morning. And, then listened to Donna Cori Gibson's song "Restless" (St. Augustine) from her Prayers of the Great Saints album. Nothing like a bit of dancing to the "Celine Dion of Catholic Music" to get you excited about a Saint's feast day .

I am so glad that you guys are enjoying and using these. It makes me smile to think of kids all over coloring these same pictures that my kids are. I will let you all know when I have more!

You know, you're going to be the go to site for Catholic feast day coloring pages on the net!

Charlotte,
When my dd asked what we were doing for St. Monica's feast day, I told her what I had planned (all from the 4real forums) - coloring pages, prayer board. She said, "No! What are we eating?" Well, Algerian couscous, of course. We're having it tonight. Thanks for all that you and others share. Valerie
ETA: The coloring pages are wonderful. You're getting them copyrighted, right???

I made the Algerian couscous, and it was a hit! I did not expect my dc to go for it, so I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks so much for the great recipe, Charlotte.

Oh, I am so glad the recipe was a hit! I used the version that I knew my husband loved and missed since I hadn't made it in a while and was pleasantly surprised that my kids liked it too! Yeah!!!
OK, they pushed the zucchini and tomatoes aside and just ate the chicken and couscous but I am going to tell myself that the vitamins from the veggies probably rubbed off on the chicken in the pan. Right?

First, I kept thinking, "Who's Charlotte?". Obviously, this old dog has trouble learning new tricks.
Second, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I love your coloring sheets. They're fabulous!
