My dd is taking some classes outside the home. They have a heavy reading load. I wanted to use some material that would not be printed for religion for my 15 yo dd. Any suggestions? Have you used any of the dvds from Ignatius? which ones have you liked? what about CDs or podcasts?

Nobody uses DVDs or CD as part of their religious education?

Answering my own question, I found this

They carry the Footprint of God series by Steven Ray. I think we are going to watch this series for Early Church history.

Any other resources would be appreciated

I really love the Pray as You Go podcast, which offers the days reading and guided reflection on it, as well as gorgeous music from around the world.

I also found this SQPN I watched several episodes of the That Catholic Show. They were great "reinforcers" of some Catholic truths and practices. They also have a vast collection of Podcasts.

Speaking of Faith (a NPR podcast by PRI) did a catholicism show recently. They have a project now where different people give their experiences and opinions on the catholic faith. Mostly in America.

Some of it is scandalous. Some of it just a little out of line with traditional catholic practice. Some beautiful.

I dont know what use it could be to you but I think it would be fun to discuss with my child if I had an older well formed faithful child who could handle the scandalous aspects.

Another thing which my dh and I really enjoyed (but its really for teens) are two books of questions and answers. One called "Did Jesus Have A Last Name?" and another "Did Adam and Eve Have Bellybuttons?"

These are really pretty well done. Short quick questions with good answers which are well in line with the Magisterium. Mature topics include chastity, respect for life, why do my protestant friends seem to know more about the Bible and etc.

While those two things are text based, they are quick and dirty answers to a lot of questions most of us might have as teens.

My family loves the Footprints of God Series by Steve Ray (Ignatius). Each one comes with a Bible Study Booklet with extensive scriptural and historical background. As they say in the trailers, they truly are a historical, geographical, biblical, cultural documentary series.

Our parish has used the T3 Bible Timeline program with Jeff Cavins for our High School Youth Group which everyone seemed to enjoy and came away with a greater understanding Salvation History.

Other favorite movies that the high schoolers have watched at retreats or long bus rides that were a hit are St. John Bosco and The Scarlet & The Black.

We have enjoyed the T3 and have the program by Mark Hart on Matthew ordered. I have used some programs from EWTN audio files with the older children. One dc listened to all of Fr. Corapi's catechism series. I don't know if it's still in their archives, but it worked well for him.
