Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here's a nice coloring sheetfor St. Theresa's feast day. The younger boys worked on them in watercolors. It'll definitely be a nice decoration for Sat. (and very simple and quick if you don't see this until Sat.).

Thanks, Gwen! I'm really trying to do coloring pages right now...it's a visual learning for ds on saints. I have a flexible binder that I print out pages and 3 hole punch so he has a little coloring book. We take this out with us, too, so he has something to color at restaurants.

I have a special love for Teresa. I was suffering debilitating migraines every day for months at college. On fall break I visited a friend in NJ and the church was Teresa of Avila...and the bulletin listed she was patron of headaches. I invoked / pleaded her help and they suddenly disappeared. They have NEVER come back in such intensity. I loved her autobiography, too.

I didn't realize but TAN has a coloring book for Teresa of Avila.

I still remember vividly the Pauline Encounter Book Leaving Matters to God. I don't know if it's still in print.

The usual links for a saint. I wish there were more pictures for ds. I recall a coloring page of the vision of Teresa with her heart getting ignited with the Fire of Love, but I can't find it. Anyone?

St. Teresa is my patron saint, so the children made dinner, and a cake...and cookies...and pudding (is there a Porky Pig emoticon???) and THEN we had a bonfire and made S'MORES! Talk about sugar overload. Still, St. Teresa would have approved. What a gal. I told the children about St. Teresa and how she would pull out her castanets during recreation if things got too "dour", and how she disliked long-faced piety. We talked about Avila, which we visited last year, and about St. Teresa's reforms, and how her great love of God was recognized even by the 1600s when our area here in N. Florida was settled by the Spaniards, such that they would name one of our nearby coastal areas "St. Teresa"---by which it is still known to this day. Then my dd gave a St. Teresa Day Speech, which sounded suspiciously like the St. Crispin's Day speech from Richard III, but with St. Teresa's name inserted for St. Crispin. Lots of "we happy few"s and "we band of brothers" kind of thing.

All in all, a fun way to recognize a great saint!

I just did a nice craft with my children, we made bookmarks!
On the lined side of a index card I had the boys write..
"Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices."
On the other side of the card I had them paste the colored badge from here
http://www.christiancoloring.com/cmpdf2005/saints/Theresa%20 of%20Avila.pdf I had to print 2 to a page so that I could get the right size. There was just enough room to paste the little wasted time prayer above the badge too. A wonderful reminder of a wonderful saint! Happy feastday!
