Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My eldest daughter began homeschooling her 7yo son a few months back. We live on opposite sides of the country (Australia) so she does not have access to my personal library.
She is a fallen away Christian, her partner (and father of her new baby) does not having any belief in God at all. He's a very generous young man, and loves his step-son very much.
My grandson is asking always to go to church, but they do not attend and have no desire to. I would like to gift her with 5-6 books that will help her understand and teach her son about Jesus and the Catholic Church. She is happy to read these to him, and who knows what fruit will come of it in their home.

As my children (and I) converted to the Catholic faith later - my youngest kids were 12 and 13 at the time - we missed all those lovely books for younger ones.

I'd really love suggestions for titles that I could buy my daughter and her son - help please?

Jenny what about An Illustrated Catechism by Inos Biffi have you seen this book at all? If you haven't I can bring it with me when we see each other soon and you can have a look at it...in the meantime I'll keep thinking and looking in my bookshelf..

I haven't heard of that one, Anne. Yes, I'd love to see it when we meet - which is now only 11 days away, can you believe it!? Thank you!

Of course it is hard to go by the St Joseph Picture Books by Father Lovasik and there is quite a few that are really good, they are not expensive usually around the $3 mark each, have you seen these at all? This is what I grew up on and they were SO inspiring! They have the most beautiful illustrations.

Here are some of the titles:

I Believe in God (The Apostles Creed)
The Ten Commandments - I Obey God
The Seven Sacraments
The Miracles of Jesus
Mary my Mother
The Angels God's Messengers and Our Helpers
God Loves us All
Good Saint Joseph
The Holy Rosary'
My First Prayer Book
Stations of the Cross
and a many many more, but those ones are particularly good.

Treasure Box books by Tan? They are so beautiful and inspiring for little ones.

My Jesus and I is a gem!

This one too is very basic and instructional.

The Weight of a Mass - it's more fairy tale like.. but gives you food for thought. (and gorgeous illustrations)

This is one we really like too, and shows how important church is without being preachy or textbooky.
