Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am not sure this is the correct forum..

I am researching some virtues/responsibilities books for boys. I have come up with the following list - please comment on any:

- The Squire and the Scroll
- Raising a Modern Day Knight
- Created to Work
- Boyhood and Beyond
- Lessons in Responsibility for Boys
- Book of Saints
- Book of Heroes
-Preparing Sons to Provide for a Single Income family

and the generic
Everyday Graces

We are having some real character/service/sacrifice/attitude issues with our 10yo boys right now and I would also love to hear some commens on these books and any others.

Blessings,
Betsie

I read "Raising a Modern Day Night"- it was not quite what I was expecting... geared more toward the parent. I'm not sure- it just didn't grab me as something I wanted to keep on my library shelf and refer to.

"Preparing Sons"... My dh was able to hear Steve Maxwell give this presentation and said it was very good. He also mentioned that "most people" would see it as very conservative, since in our society it's not popular to be a one income family. I'm not sure who "most people" are, but you can't go wrong with a Maxwell book.

Young Man's Guide by Fr. Lasance is a great book for older boys.

Amy Wellborn's books? We like them for how they bring the saints to present day. However, they refer to school a lot, which my kids have no experience with.

We love Everyday Graces as well as Wm. Bennet's Children's Book of Virtues, America, Family, etc.

We have used "Boys To Men: The Transforming Power of Virtue"with our 15yo, and I highly recommend it. It challenged me as much as him.
