Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been reading a book that talks about Victorian traditions and how the Victorians used to have what they called Christmas in July where they would make handmade gifts to give at Christmas. That started me thinking about the Jesse Tree Swap and how many people wanted to do it but due to the busyness of the season, just could not add one more thing to their heaping plates.

What do you all think about having a Jesse tree swap in July? People can sign up for it in June and the swap can take place at the end of July? Just a thought. I'd head it up the way I was planning to back in November.

Wonderful! I'll send out an invitation in this forum for people to sign up in June. I'll write your names on my list of people who are interested.

It will be great to get to do this.

Just an FYI:    If you do this swap, you may want to be REALLY clear on what size ornaments people are to make. The swap we did in November was awesome, with beautiful ornaments, but many were over sized and did not stay in the perimeters of 1-3 inches.   This may not be an issue for some folks, but for me the large ornaments did not fit our Jesse tree. Hope that helps, have fun!

You should have seen my face when my neighbor that I invited into the swap showed up at my door with those beautiful, but large GLASS globes that I needed to ship out to everyone. He's a solo dad for the year as he attends school, and his dd's did all the painting. They are beautiful, but i could've cried.

Count me in as well. I was bummed to have missed out on the one in November.

Hello, I've been out of town and unable to check this forum. I think I might specify not using breakable glass globes for my nerves' sake.

As far as where to get a Jesse tree... For the past two years we've used a dead tree limb (it looks way better than it sounds). Other families I know use a small Christmas tree on a table and others use their main Christmas tree. Faith and Family magazine in last year's issue where they talked about the swap idea, used those decorating twigs that you can find at Craft stores in the floral section. I've seen some made out of dowels as well. If your not the crafty type I'd shoot for a dead limb or small artificial tree. Hope that helps and if anyone has any other ideas for trees, please chime in.

Please add me to the list! This will be so much easier to complete over the summer. We really enjoy using our Jesse Tree but I'm tired of our laminated paper ornaments. If you have trouble getting people on-board, I know I could get some friends locally to join.
Thanks,

Super! I was just thinking about it again and I'm glad women are seeing it in the older posts. :) I'll be sending out the official invitation in June but I've written everyone's names down who have responded to this post so far. I'm glad to be doing this.

I still have plans to organize it. But, Doctor's orders has me on bedrest for my early pregnancy. I need something to do while in bed and my husband is a school teacher and is home for the summer and can do the running around. The tricky part is figuring out the computer legwork as I can't have it in the bed with me and is in a different room. Oh, and maybe I'm not factoring in the stress factor, if any. Maybe I should contact Lorri and ask about that. Hmmm...Any thoughts? Maybe I should wait it out a few more weeks and see if the symptoms I'm experiencing will go away. I pray that they will.
