My prayers have been answered! A few months ago, I was sent a copy of St. Mary's Messenger by Kris Weipert, the magazine's senior editor, and I was impressed. St. Mary's Messenger contains stories and information that are pertinent to the liturgical year in a child-friendly, eye-pleasing format. My second eldest daughter went to bed on more than one occasion, looking at the magazine. St. Mary's Messenger provides a wonderful way to reinforce the Catholic faith.
In order to publish this magazine, the editors need to show their prospective publisher that there is a market for it. If you have been looking for a Catholic children's magazine, please visit www.stmarysmessenger.com and fill in their form, stating that you would like to read the magazine. Expressing your interest does not mean that you are obligated to subscribe when the magazine is printed. A PDF sample of St. Mary's Messenger is available on the website.

It is quite fabulous, and great timing since "My Friend" is no longer being published.

Hello!
I haven't posted in ages but I thought this was worth getting out there...
St. Mary's Messenger is about to go to press.
Their inaugural 16-page issue will be an Easter 2009 issue and she hopes to have another issue later in the year. It sounds like they are starting small and its very early in their creation of this magazine.
I love the idea of a Catholic magazine for the kids. The magazine cover price is $4.95.
Kris says they need orders no later than 2/17 (that’s next Monday) so they can get their numbers to the printer.
There are a few sample pages and an order form online on this site:
St. Mary's Messenger
Thanks!
Erica

I received the Advent version of this a couple weeks ago, and really liked it!!!! It's a beautiful magazine!
Christine has seen the Lent/Easter issue and said it is really nice!

Our Lent/Easter issue of St. Mary’s Messenger just arrived in our mailbox and our friend, Kris Weipert, has outdone herself. This issue contains a beautiful reflection by Kris on God’s Garden, a maze, a coloring page, an interview, a logic puzzle, a quiz, and a story. It also contains articles on RCChallenge, Bl. John Paul II, rabbits (written by Elizabeth and Theresa Gallagher), and more. If you don’t already have a subscription, you might want to get one. |

The editor, Kris, said that if a school or group (like a religious ed class, group, school or parish where they come to one location) orders 5 or more subscriptions of St. Mary’s Messenger, the cost is discounted to 50% off of the subscription price of $19.95.

Thanks for the info, Suzanne. I also got a sample copy in the mail this week. It does look really good - it is a quality publication.

We ended up getting a group-rate-subscription for a bunch of the girls in our scout troop and my girls absolutely love this magazine!!!! Their only complaint is that is only published four times a year!!! It really is fun and they get so much out of it. LOVE this magazine!
My 10 year old just showed me the article about homeschooling in the fall issue.
It would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for any god-children or friends.
