Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just ordered The Garden of the Good Shepherd: A Sticker Calendar to Count the 50 Days of Easter for only $3!! Regularly, it retails for $19.95!

I have always had my eye on this book; it looks like a fun way to celebrate the days between Easter and Pentecost, and it's illustrated by Tomie de Paola to boot!

I ordered a few other things at LTP while I was there, and still my order only totalled $13! I got a catalog in the mail, but you can find the sale items online here.

We have used this for 4 years and my dc still love it.

I would highly reccomend "laminating" the stickers somehow (we used packing tape)
and attaching the peices with masking tape or sticky putty.

The first year our "re usable" stickers shredded when we tried to remove them and I had to puzzle them back together using packing tape.

I would be SO much easier to do it first.

Other than that we really like it.

Maggie

btw LTP offers a BILL ME option if you are short on cash untill that tax refund rolls in

Dawn,
If you don't mind me asking what else did you buy? I think I may go ahead and order the Advent/Christmas calendar while I'm at it. Thank so much for the tip!

I just ordered one as well! I would second the recommendation to laminate the stickers. I had one of these two years ago and was unable to reuse it as the stickers came off in many, many pieces. I was disappointed in that, however we loved the product so I am happy to be able to get another one at such a great price!!

Amanda, I also ordered Catechetical Resource Book #1, Catechetical Resource Book #2, and Raise the Banners High: Making and Using Processional Banners.

By the way, the service at LTP was excellent. I placed my order over the internet, and having ordered with them before, they already had my credit card info on file. But I forgot that I've received new cards since then (with new expiration dates). They called me the next day but couldn't reach me. When I saw that they had called, I returned the call (thinking oh no, they don't have the items or something like that). But the woman with whom I spoke said they had shipped my package along with a bill, and I could just send my check after I received it. You don't see that kind of service much anymore!

Thanks for the tip, Dawn. I ordered right away. I'm still deciding if I should get the pack of 25 calendars and laminate for placemats. I haven't done that yet.

If you are laminating stickers, would you laminate the sheet without removing the backing and then cut them out?

This post plus another of Dawn's ideas was my inspiration for this countdown to Pentecost craft. Thought I would share it for anyone interested.

The stickers on the Garden of the Good Shepherd calendar say that they are reusable.

Hello everyone;

Just a wee tip for you all. ;-)I purchased the Garden of the Good Shepherd several years ago and found it to be a bit consumable in the way it was made. The stickers for instance weren't as I would prefer. So, for longer lasting durability (re; child friendly - bend, lick, whatever..LOL), I decided to laminate all the small pieces and cut them out again as close to the edges as possible. When adhering the pieces to the background when the appointed times are at hand, I just use double sided tape, and when I'm ready to put it away again until the following year, I remove all traces of the adhesive, and repack.

I appreciate this wee tip. Can I ask when you got it laminated, did you just laminate the sheet of stickers without removing them and then cut around them? I'm very ignorant about lamination and the best way to do it.

Good morning Jenn,

I removed each piece and placed them inside of a laminating pouch, leaving enough room around the outer edges for cutting in between them all. For ease of having them remain in their places and not slipping around while lifting to insert into the hot machine, I dabbed a smidgen of glue from my finger after swiping the top of a glue stick.

Some folks might prefer to slip the entire sheet into a laminating pouch as is, but I find the laminating edges seal better, and become sturdier when placed individually because if you just slip the entire piece in there, once they are cut, there is no lip between the sticker piece and the edge of the laminating pouch remaining, just paper all the way through to the outside. Over time, the edges lift and the inside is exposed, making it able to lift more over time and ruin when it peels off eventually. Often it can rip the piece inside while peeling off as well.

It's worth the extra effort in the laminating process to prepare each product individually, though I will admit it's a more tedious task in the end. I guess it all depends how long someone wants to preserve their goods in the end.

And Jenn, once you begin laminating, you'll find much to keep on going. It's fun, and so handy to have around. Mine is almost burnt out, time for another soon. LOL

I was going to get the lamination done, since I don't own a laminator yet. So that will complicate things, won't it?

Thanks for the tips, Renee.
