Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My ds and I are finally going to study the Rosary together, in hopes that it will inspire greater devotion. One thing I want to do is to emphasize that the mysteries are actual historical events in the lives of Our Lord and Our Lady. So our first activity will be, (using Kathryn's beautiful Rosary cards) to have ds put all 20 mysteries onto a timeline. This seems pretty straightforward, but I am running into a little trouble.
Here are my questions:

Year of Our Lord's birth: approx AD 4?
Approx. age of Our Lady at Annunciation?

With the luminous mysteries, can someone tell me if this is the correct CHRONOLOGICAL order for them?

Baptism of Our Lord
Wedding at Cana
Proclamation of the Kingdom
Transfiguration
Institution of the Eucharist

And what years (approx) would you place these events?

And when exactly was this specific "proclamation of the kingdom"? I guess I thought that was multiple events?

Age of Our Lord at crucifixion? (I was thinking 34?)

Approx. age of Our Lady at Assumption?

Any help would be appreciated!

Theresa, you've got the chronological order of the luminous mysteries right.

I think Proclamation of the kingdom is supposed to be the 3 years Christ spent preaching and healing.

Our Lord is traditionally said to be 33 when he died.

So, the baptism and Wedding at Cana wd have been when he was 30, the last 2 when he was 33.

In Hebrew culture, girls came of age at 12 and were marriagable at that time. Mary was probably about 13-14.

Nobody knows how long Mary lived... but 60 was a long time to live in those days. She wd have been 46 or so at the time of the Crucifixion.

There is a tradition with the Franciscan Crown of the seven Joys of Our Lady. At the end of this rosary of seven decades, one prays an additional two Hail Marys in honor of the 72 years Our Lady lived on earth.

Here's a section from the Catholic Encyclopedia

St. Julian Eymard refers to the "twenty years" Our Lady spent in the cenacle after OUr Lord's ascension. (This time was spent by Our Lady worshipping Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.) If Our Lady was around 15 at the time of the Annunciation, add 33 years for OUr Lord's life and then another 20 you come up with 68 (right?) (More or less the same as the Franciscan crown age.)
