Last question... And then, I promise I'll stop posting. I'm new to homeschooling, so I have a lot of questions. I'm trying to flesh out "frequenting the sacraments." What does this look like in your Home Schools?
I'm sure this sounds silly, but I really get caught up in the "doing it right" syndrome. My kids are young, but I guess I want to be putting the faith into practice as much as I can because that's why I'm homeschooling. But, I know there's a reality factor, even though I have an ideal in my head.
If you have some wisdom, do you mind passing this on?

I'm pretty sure "frequenting the sacraments" looks different in every home. If 75% of the people who respond to your question say in their home it means going to confession weekly, does that mean you can conclude you should go to confession weekly? I don't think so. The church has set forth minumums for receiving the sacraments (which in our blessed country really do seem so very minimal  ), and if you are meeting these, then I guess I would recommend turning to our Lord in your prayer life and asking Him what he wants for your family and your situation at this time. Staying close to Him sacramentally yourself and putting it before the Lord in prayer, I believe, will give you the answers you desire! (And it may turn out to be less than your ideal OR so much more - who knows?) It is so easy sometimes to get caught up in "our" ideals, isn't it?  God bless you as you flesh this out -

Thanks, Wendy. I agree. I know what the norms are, but when you read these home school "How to" books, it seems like some of these families do go to Mass daily, weekly confession, etc.
I need the graces and so do the kids, but I'm just trying to find the balance. That's all. I'm not looking for a pat answer as much as a little guidance. I want my kids to grow in holiness and to love the faith.

I hope I didn't imply that daily Mass and/or weekly confession isn't admirable though?  Just that it shouldn't be taken automatically as a "I have to now do this" since I'm homeschooling.

 Thats because by the time they wrote the book they had more olders than littles.
When i had only littles we got to daily Mass once a week. Now I have olders and we still only get there once a week.

Amen to that, Bridget! I was from a family of seven and we didn't get to daily Mass as a family until the children were older.
And I'm thinking of several "how-to" books that didn't mention daily Mass as a requirement. The living the liturgical year in the home many times was expanded at home BECAUSE the families couldn't be at church so much.

Thanks for again for the insight ladies. These books didn't mention you had to go to daily Mass. So I'm sorry if I suggested that idea. I just want to see what has really worked for other families. We have daily Mass at 9am at our parish, and that's prime learning time. Not to mention, my kids ask the question, "Do we have to go?" So, I'm trying to find the balance. Again, I want them to love their faith. That's all.
Also, thanks for the insight on living out the liturgical season. I thought this to be true as well. We're trying.
