Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know if there is a book which explains the purpose and the derivation of the Mass in Biblical terms that would be suitable for the lower Primary Level? Ideally, it would look at the different elements of the Mass in daily small chunks, link them to a Biblical (probably Gospel) source for authority, yet include child friendly activities like cartoon graphics, Fill-in-the-blanks exercises, close quizzes, and the like. I have started writing one for my 10 yo who is preparing for 1st Eucharist, but I fear he will be 16 before I am finished it.

I haven't used this, so I can't give a personal recommendation -- but when I was looking for missals for my six-year-old, I saw this:

A Child's Missal by Patmos

You might find other suggestions here if your search for a mass missal??

I do have that missal. I just posted a review of the book. I absolutely love the illustrations -- I know it's because I'm a calligraphy and illumination enthusiast, but my son also loves and is captivated by the illustrations.

Jenn's link isn't working above. Here's a better link to her site: Jenn's review of Our Children's Missal

Thanks, Maryan. I fixed it above, too. That will teach me to not talk and type at the same time.

Well... I was thinking as I first posted: "I wonder if it was Jenn that pointed me to look at this book in the first place." But being pregnant, I couldn't remember!

There is also Know Your Mass. Its a comic book style from the 50's. But it is so clear and strong.
I was inspired by reading it too!

Someone recommended this to me also -- but do you know where to find it? I couldn't find it at amazon -- although I haven't looked in the last three months!

Okay... I just found it at Amazon: here

But this says it's a first edition 2006??? Is it the same as the 50s book?

Yes, that is the same one. It's "new" bc done in color for the first time. But none of the content has changed.

It's really perfect for a middle-school-age child. They'll pore over it.
