Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm trying to add more prayer and have some questions.

When/how do you traditionally say the following prayers:

fatima prayer
angelus
magnificat
memorare
regine coeli (sp?)

any others you can think of...???

Fatima prayer is prayed after every decade after the Glory be...

Angelus 6 am, 12pm, and 6 pm, except during Easter

St Louis Marie de Montfort never left Mass without praying the Magnificat

We pray the memorare before bed.

Regina Caeli is prayed during the Easter time at 6am, 12pm, and 6pm.

Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Magnificat is also prayed every day during the Evening Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours.

That's right. I forgot about that, and also all memebers of the Legion of Mary, active and auxilliary, pray it every day as well.

Martha, when you say 'Fatima prayer' do you mean "Oh my Jesus forgive us our sins..." or "My God I believe, I adore..."

We don't get all the prayers in at the proper times, but we try.

We pray the Angelus each day before lunch. We hardly ever hit noon on the nose, but we do pray it in the middle of the day. The Regina Coeli is prayed at this time during Easter.

I pray the magnificat in the pm with my night devotions. (privatly, not with the children.)

We pray the memorare each night after our family rosary and each day before we leave mass.

I don't know if this is all 'proper' but it's what we do here.

We attach the Angelus to our mealtime prayers too--we pray it before breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That's the closest I can get to 6, 12, and 6, and it makes it very easy to remember.

We always pray the St. Michael prayer after Mass. I understand that this used to be tradition. They still do it at my grandma's parish in Front Royal, VA. We say it at bedtime too.

I mean any any all prayers.

We tend to routine around here, so any thing I can fit in our routine tends to happen.

So praying the fatima prayer during rosary should be fairly easy. I simply didn't know where in the rosary. (the oh my jesus forgive.. one, I don't know the other at all!)

Any other daily prayers anyone would like to share?

I have a liturgy of the hours from a couple years ago, but for the life of me, I can't figure it our enough to get comfortable with it. Now it's a very decorative dust catcher. I can't stand how that thing is arranged.

The Fatima prayer goes after each Glory Be.

I pray the Angel of God (Angele Dei) with my children each day. It's a sweet and simple prayer to the guardian angels. I have it posted in the nursery, so I pray it when I get them out of bed in the morning and, if I remember, before I put them down for the night.

The prayers for before and after meals are easy to incorporate, if you haven't already.

Also, the Divine Mercy chaplet is traditionally prayed at 3pm.

I forgot to add that we are definitely routine-oriented around here, so we add quite a few prayers onto our evening rosary: the Prayer to Saint Michael, the Memorare, etc. It's probably the only way I would remember to fit them into my day!

Another prayer, which our priest suggested we pray every day with the children is The Anima Christi.

ahh and by any chance was a traditional recommendation made for a fitting time to say the anima christi?

I know we can make our own traditions, but seeing as neither of our families have any religous base, I'd like to incorporate some from the Catholic body at large.

maybe I should look into when some lay or other orders rules on this...

We say the Anima Christi after communion. And in our church, everyone kneels and prays the prayer to St. Michael after mass. Our family prays it no matter where we go.

Me too!

When I'm doing a good job, we pray a morning offering together before school. I forgot today.

I like to say the Breastplate of St. Patrick while I make breakfast. I keep it by the toaster. I tend to do Divine Mercy chaplet at 3am a normal time for me to wake up lately (usually a nightmare that leaves me in fear of my life/soul) then I say Hail Marys until I fall back to sleep. When I scroll over the prayer forum here, I pray a Hail Mary at least. I rarely read or post there, but I try to always pray something. Before bed once a week, Bill and I read Sunday's mass readings together. Bill memorized the Prayer to St. Joseph--the one that protects you from all sorts of deaths and capture--as a part of his evening prayer when he was in Afghanistan. I credit it with a large step towards his conversion.

St. Joseph

Lorica This is similar to mine, but I like my Breastplate better. Our priest translated it, and it's in a book he wrote and printed. Not an official translation.

Hope there's something new or helpful!

We're in the habit of praying the Memorare for Daddy everyday. We all memorized the Anima Christi to say after receiving Holy Communion

Also, if you're not going to Mass, it's a good idea to make at least one Spiritual Communion a day.

We pray for the poor souls attached to the end of our grace before meals: (shortened to just...) "and may the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace."

My devout mother (who doesn't do this)laughed the first time she heard us do that and wanted to know if there was anything she should know about the food before she ate it!!
