Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is there anything particular about the Ignatius Bible that is "required" for the MODG syllabus? I'm using that this year for religion and ds already has a good Catholic Bible for teens, although I can't recall exactly what translation it is at the moment (I'm at the library and it is at home or possibly even packed up in storage!)
I've just ordered a ton of books from various places for all 3 kids, and I didn't get the Ignatius Bible. Does it have extra commentary that he will need, etc?

I believe any good Catholic bible will suffice. I usually use a NAB, but if it's not around, I will pull out the Ignatius version.

There is not extra commentary in the Ignatius Bible that would be needed. I think MODG just recommends it for the translation - Revised Standard Version- Catholic Edition which is recommended by many other sources as well.

Ignatius Bible is considered to be the most accurate around. The NAB can be way "off" in its tone and translation. Maybe that seems minor for hs but after a while it adds up....

Its worth buying one if you don't have it--at least a paperback.

The Ignatius Bible is usually the RSV-CE and tends to avoid inclusive language, IIRC.
