Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I made the liturgical wheel as described in CHC's A Year with God. We made it in the fall and are enjoying following the year. Anyway, my question is this: Why do they include Trinity Sunday and Corpus Christi (they call it Body and Blood) in the Easter Season part of the wheel? From my understanding, the Easter Season ends with Pentecost. Following that then, shouldn't Trinity Sunday and Corpus Christi be in the Ordinary Time part of the wheel? Maybe I'm missing something...
Thanks for the help!

Christine

Hmmm...I don't know why they have it that way. Looking at my calendar hanging beside me, waaaay back in February before Lent began, the last Sunday in OT before Lent began was the 7th Sunday. Skip through Lent and Easter. The 8th Sunday of OT would be Pentecost, the 9th Sunday of OT is Trinity Sunday, then Corpus Christi would be the 10th Sunday of OT. My calendar picks up this year with June 17th being the 11th Sunday of OT. Maybe you'd be able to find an answer on Catholic Culture, or perhaps Jenn will weigh in on the matter.

HTH,
Valerie

I'll weigh in.

Like Valerie said, the last week before Ash Wednesday was the 7th week in Ordinary Time. The Monday (and week) following Pentecost was the 8th week in Ordinary Time. Trinity and Corpus Christi would be 9th and 10th weeks respectively. The vestments worn are white on Trinity and Corpus, so maybe that's the confusion?
