Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a quote from another section of the forum but its got me thinking...

do you think she would accept a green scapular? You could pray the prayer for her, or she could do it herself. She doesn't even have to wear it, just keep it at her house. Many conversions have been attributed to this sacramental .... I hid one in the springs of the backseat of my mom's car and I pray for her and the rest of my family's conversion daily.

I've recently read about the green scapular and lo and behold I found one in my own stuff today! I have a little box of scapulars and rosaries that were my grandma's. I'd been looking for it and found it! Anyway, I'd like to hide it in my brother's car or somewhere in/on his things but what happens if he finds it? I'd think someone would get pretty angry...it just seems sneaky. I'm probably not making any sense here...any thoughts?

Marie, I wonder if you could tell him about your grandmother's box and ask him to accept the scapular--particularly since it would be something to remember your grandmother by.

The nice thing about the green scapular is that you can wear it for the intention of someone else's conversion. So, if you were afraid of your brother's reaction to finding it, or afraid he wouldn't accept it if you were to give it to him, you could wear it for him. I've worn mine for quite some time for the conversion of another.

Alice and Lisa,

Thank you both for these very good ideas. I still don't know what to do....waiting for inspiration from the Holy Spirit, I guess.

My brother's family's drift from the faith bothers me so much.

Alice....I really like your idea. I remember my mom told me years and years ago that my brother told her he "was a Hail Mary man" meaning that the Hail Mary was the prayer he most often turned to. I mostly just need to get the courage up to ask him if he would like it.

Sorry for rambling....thanks again!
