I was wanting to post in the First Holy Communion thread, the fact that this beautiful little blessed, Blessed Imelda Lambertini feast day was on the 12th, but as I was doing an internet search on her, I noticed some sites were saying her feast is on the 13th of May.

Can anyone tell me why both are mentioned and which is in fact, the correct one?

Some of the confusion seems to stem from the fact that some places report the day of her death to be May 12 and some May 13th. Most sites listed May 12th as the day she died and May 13th as her feast day would be strange if her cause was following the formal canonization process.

I think it might have to do with the fact that she hasn't been beatified in the "normal way" but rather through "cultus confirmed" which would fall under the casus excepti formula of Urban VIII.

The procedure at present followed at the Roman curia is either exceptional or common. The approval of immemorial cultus comes within the category of exceptional procedure. Urban VIII., while forbidding the rendering of a public cultus without authorization from the Holy See, made an exception in favour of the blessed who were at that time (1625) in possession of an immemorial cultus, i.e. dating back at least a century (1525). The procedure per viam casus excepti consists in the legitimation of a cultus which has been rendered to a saint for a very long time. The causes of the martyrs (declarationis martyrii) also are exceptional. Juridical proof is required of the fact of the martyrdom and of its cause, i.e. it must be established that the servant of God was put to death through hatred of the faith. These are the two cases which constitute exceptional procedure.

When the Church confirms the public cultus of a saint, it means that the Church is formally acknowledging the holiness of this person, and is saying that it is acceptable to venerate this person. Confirmation of a public cult is one of the first steps toward canonization. It is a slightly different process than that of the modern formal beatification, but the person is referred to as "Blessed".

As to which date is right, May 13th looks like the date from all of my trusted sources.
