Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Brenda,

I know nothing about the books. When I see new books, I check out who is the author, and when I don't recognize the name, I check out the publisher. Both publishers I have reservations, meaning I need to examine each material on a case-by-case basis.

There's more blurbs about the book from the publisher's sites:

The Complete Children's Liturgy Book

Celebrating the Gospels.

The second title looks more promising, as the "Children's Liturgy" sends a red flag of "dumbing down" the Mass for children 4-7.

But all of this is personal opinion, which you can take with a grain of salt.

Brenda, I use bits and pieces of both books. The Children's Complete Liturgy Book is geared toward younger children. It has a coloring page for each week's Gospel theme, and an overview, a prayer, some discussion and activity ideas. The activity pages are generally to be photocopied and colored. They're a little cartoon-ish, but cute.

Celebrating the Gospels is for older children (or I think, can be used as a family with multiple aged children). It presents a reflection of the Gospel and gives some "talking" suggestions as well as some "doing" ideas. They offer a prayer to use as well. A neat thing is for each week there is a Scripture "banner symbol" a small square with an image representing the week's theme. The idea is to color and add each one to a poster or a banner of some sort. We didn't keep that up, but I think it's a nice idea.

I look at both those books each week and see what each has to offer. We also use our Magnifikid.

Hope that helps a little!
