Years ago I saw St. Anthony's tongue on display in Padua. That always has bothered me- trying not to think of how/why his tongue was removed from his body.

But just recently I bought Fr. Lavasik's saints book for the kids, and in it the story of the tongue is explained. St. Anthony died and was buried, and then 50 years later his remains were brought back to Padua. His tongue was found to be completely intact, and so it was put on display. Whew! What a relief- such little thing, but I feel so much better now knowing the whole story.

I can understand, Melinda........I am a bit creeped out that Saint Frances Cabrini's body is in NYC and her head is in Italy. What's with that???? I have decided to just TRUST God, that He was the inspration behind it all, and that it must go beyond MY simple understanding
