Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a really personal question....How do YOU adore. I've been attending eucharistic adoration since advent nearly every week. I usually begin by giving thanks to Our Lord for all of His Blessings, including bringing me to Him in the Blessed Sacrament. Then I spend some time for petitions. I constantly ask for the Grace to do His Will. Sometimes I say a Rosary. Then I just spend the rest of the hour keeping Him company. Is there a more formal way that I'm supposed to adore? This is a tough and personal question to ask. Well, off I go. I would love to hear anyone's responses.

Thank you,
Beth

I've only been attending Adoration for nearly 1yr now, so I am NOT the most experienced here, I am sure. However, I was nervous at first thinking I wasn't doing enough! So I purchased (at our local Catholic Bookstore) a little book called "An Hour with Jesus" it actually has a plan laid out for spending one hour or even one for spending two hours in Adoration. I found it very helpful at first. Now, though, I just follow my heart! I do always pray the Rosary and the chaplet of Divine Mercy and there are a few other prayers from the book I make sure to say also, like the prayer for the dying, etc. But there are days when I am so spiritually exhausted that I mostly just kneel or sit there and plead for His help in every way. Ask Him, to show you how to spend your time there, He will.    God Bless you!

Beth, I have been thinking about this since you posted yesterday. I want to respond to you, (so you know we care)but I am at a loss. What you describe sounds beautiful to me. I think our time with the Lord has different seasons, just like a close friend, sometimes we talk and share and sometimes we just sit and allow the comfort of the other to penetrate our beings.   There are books for formal holy hours, and they are wondeful at times , but as of late I jsut sit, and allow his healing rays to burn through me. Burn away my will and make room for his. I say to him, I am here Lord to be with you, I will keep silent and try not to make things worse for you! I will sit at the foot of the cross in silence. He knows my heart and as you first stated it is personal and very unique to each of us. I believe making the effort to go as you do will change your life, and bless you in abundance. Thank you for making me ponder this for a while.

Thank you both for your time. You've both helped me immensely-if even to reassure me that I haven't been wasting this time before Our Lord. Beautiful. I hope I haven't offended anyone by just the question since it is such a personal matter.
