I was wondering if we could choose an Australian artist for one of the future artists of the month? I can make a few suggestions - and others may have more.
For example - Tom Roberts, Hans Heysen, Ken Done, Pro Hart....
Just a thought!

Continue to bug me about this Leonie, as I have a mind like a sieve!
I've been going with a artist's birthday theme, but only for lack of other inspiration. I'd be happy to throw something else in the mix! Recommend your favorite and then pester me mercilessly at the end of May (or another month if that suits your needs better).

In searching for some Dutch Marian images for Dawn, I came across the fact that 2006 marks Rembrandt's 400th anniversary. Amy, do you think we could study Rembrandt sometime this year? He painted some good religious pictures, including some of the Holy Family.

Sure! I think he's a good choice too. If I stick to a birthday theme, it's in July - what does everyone think, should we study him in June to prepare for the 400 anniversary in July, or just study in July?

Since you seem to be taking suggestions...how about a photographer, like Ansel Adams sometime? We won't be starting art study until next year (plate is full this year) but just thought maybe you could work him in then?

I love Ansel Adams too! We have this one in our living room.
I'll try to remember this thread is here and work in all your suggestions!

Well, here are my suggestions: Rembrandt in June to prepare for his 400th anniversary, Ansel Adams in July to celebrate an American artist and an Australian in August, to tie in with Bl. Mary MacKillop, the 1st Australian Saint's feast day of Aug. 8.
