Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have had challenges teaching art. I have a dd that was in school of a period and had very negative experiences there in regards to art.

So I quit teaching it. I started DOING it. This really piqued her interest. I didn't ask her to join in. I teach it.

She asked where I learned to paint what ever it was I was making. And I told her online.

Low and behold, she REALLY wanted to paint. She did a few things, really rushed, not real turn out. Then a friend joined in, they had better results together. An opportunity to work with a local mixed media artist came up. She did a 4 week class, and learned a little more patience.

Now she was really excited and conned her dad into buying her some canvases.

She searched online for some free tutorials.

Now she's studying on her own about painters.

Sometimes, it's just best to model by example... whet their curiosity.

This is progress. Theses were both first attempts. The landscape took 3 evenings, and last night she did the abstract.

Awesome work! Do you mind sharing the tutorial links sometime? Looks like she is a natural, and yes, whetting their appetite is always a good thing.

I'll get the links from her.

This was a kid that cried at the thought of trying to do anything artistic. She is still close to tears when it's not going her way, but she's working through it.

Funny thing about painting, you don't need to be able to draw in order to paint. Go figure. I can paint, but can't draw at all.

Wow! How wonderful! Great job stepping back and letting her develop her own interest and skill, Mom!

Here are the links she used:

I don't know what they say, she watched them with no sound, she just went by what she saw.
