Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for a coffee table type book of great paintings, that I could just leave around for my kids to leaf through on their own. I am looking for one that would have paintings appropriate for children ( i.e., no nudes or suggestive scenes). Any recommendations? Thanks!

I haven't looked at this, but I've thought about it before. I recently bought Amy Steedman's The Stories of the Painters on Amazon for $17. It was in really great condition. It is mostly stories, which are great, but there are some color plates. I have Sister Wendy's Painting book, but there may be more flesh than you are comfortable with!

Seton's grade eight art book Art Through Faith hardcover edition does make for quite an attractive coffee table book without material that could be considered inappropriate (I've found visitors leafing through our copy).   We also like their other art appreciation books.

For my youngest children I quite like the various children's books put out by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My main problem is keeping track of them .
