Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There is a small picture on the main page of Catholic Cuisine - http://catholiccuisine.blogspot.com/ - of St Anne and Mary. I have always loved that painting but haven't been able to find it in a print. Does anyone know the name of the painting and the artist?

Thanks bunches and God bless!

I don't know about this particular painting, but the theme is a fairly common one. Several different painters have done works that usually have titles like "The Education of the Virgin." Maybe if you Googled that title plus "paintings" and select "images" you would be able to track it down. I absolutely love this painting and others with the same theme as well. In our schoolroom we have Georges de la Tour's painting of the same theme (well, not actually the *painting* - can you imagine what our homeowners' insurance would be if that were the case!). I find it very inspiring, especially since St. Anne is my name saint - such a homeschooling example!

Peace,
Nancy

I'm not sure it's possible to find an artist. This is one of the often used holy card images and those are rarely paintings that are actually credited to an artist. But maybe it is possible - Anyone else have any luck?

I did google the Education of the Virgin, but it is indeed a saint card picture. I've looked at a lot of pics with this title, and I think if I don't see anything I like better, I will probably go with the one done by Murillo. Now if I can just find a copy or it. LOL

Thanks ladies for the help.
